Books with a Sicilian connection or by Sicilian Authors

There are a number of famous classic Sicilian authors such as Lampedusa and Pirandello (who incidentally comes from my husband's Province). Other authors worth mentioning include Andrea Camilleri (also from Agrigento), whose book The Shape of Water starts the Inspector Montalbano detective stories. Also note worthy is Lara Cardella's book, Volevo i Pantelloni, which caused scandal in her community.

I have not dedicated any of this site to explaining the history or cultural issues surrounding the Mafia as this site reflects my experiences of Sicily. However the organisation has undoubtedly played a part in shaping Sicily. Of course if you search for books about Sicily or by Sicilian authors you will find a large number of books about the Mafia. Hence some are included here.
