Last time I was in Sicily the weather was scorching hot. It was in August. By the coast the breeze was very welcome, but in the hilly Sicilian towns that we visited, the heat was often very opressive. Thankfully our hire car had air conditioning - a must if you intend to hire a car in Sicily. I loved sitting in it and cooling down.
If you are considering hiring a car in Sicily (or anywhere else in fact), then I really recommend you take out car hire insurance. Sicilian drivers aren't the most careful, and some of the towns have very narrow streets. By paying just £49 you can get £2000 excess cover for any damage to your rental cars, theft, and damage to windows and tyres. Plus another bonus is the cover is annual so you can use it again.
The best that I have found is this one here. Take a look for yourself.
I can really recommend this because I have taken it out myself. It works and in my opinion is well worth the money.
