Sicilians certainly enjoy a good festival. Most towns in Sicily have festivals that celebrate their particular patron saint's day, for example in my husbands town they have a festival for St Calogero. On this page there are pictures from the Easter Festival in Aragona. The same festival has taken place for many years and follows the same format. There are also pictures form a festival that takes place in Agrigento every year - The Almond Blossom Festival.

Mandorlo in Fiore (Almond Blossom) Festival Agrigento February 2007

These pictures were all taken in February 2007 at the Mandorlo in Fiore Festival in Agrigento Sicily. Mandorlo in Fiore translates as almond in flower or almond blossom. The festival started in a town called Naro in 1934 as a showcase for farmers to promote their products. In 1937 it moved to its current location in Agrigento. Folk groups now attend from all over the world. To read a full history of the tournament, visit the official website.
