About the Mamma
The Webmamma was born in
England and married a Sicilian gentleman over 40 years ago. They
live in England where there is a strong Sicilian community. They
take their holiday in Sicily every year. The first time the
webmamma decide to travel to Sicily in 1966, it took two and a half
days to get to Sicily by train. The Webmamma hopes that this site
strengthens Sicilian community ties and gives Sicilians living
abroad happy memories of Sicily.
About the son
The Webmamma's son loves
visiting Sicily and goes there whenever he can. Justa lika Mamma,
he also likes creating websites. So he thought it would be a good
idea to create a site about Sicily that wasn't really a Sicilian
travel guide, but more of site about personal experiences of
Sicily.
If you have pictures of Sicily, that you would like us to put on this site then please contact us. Or if you have stories about Sicily or are part of a Sicilian community, then please get in touch. People have been in touch with book and film recommendations and these are always gratefully received. You can find some of these recommendations in our shop. We don't recommend any Sicily hotels mainly because we don't stay in them, however we will gladly put your recommendations or reviews of hotels in Sicily on our site. This would be really helpful for other people that woud like to travel in Sicily.
Although The Sicily Site is not run as a business any sales from the shop or proceeds from clicks on the ads goes towards maintenance of the site.
We hope that you enjoy browsing The Sicily Site and would love to get feedback from you. Please let us know if there is anything you think we should add or if we have made any mistakes.
